development
and application of advanced materials
and specialty chemicals.
The
advanced materials/specialty sector
spans the spectrum from industry giants
DuPont (Kevlar) and Honeywell (Spectra)
to entrepreneurial start-ups such as
Magellan Systems (high-strength fiber)
and NanoMatrix (bio-mimicking
scaffolding material that promotes the
growth of human tissue) – and
companies of every size in between.
This
burgeoning high-tech community is
supported by cutting-edge R&D
activity -- both at universities and
federal labs -- in Richmond;
nearby Charlottesville
and Hampton Roads; and, within easy
driving distance,
Blacksburg,
the Research Triangle and Washington,
D.C.

Greater Richmond Catalyst
Greater
Richmond Catalyst,
a quarterly website/newsletter supported
by the Greater Richmond Partnership,
tracks new technologies, products and
businesses originating from the Richmond
region. The publication has two goals:
1.
To
promote the building of new business
relationships and foster an exchange of
ideas within the region that will lead
to greater creativity and innovation;
and
2.
To
persuade industry players and service
providers outside the region that, to
keep abreast of the advanced-materials
field, they need to maintain a presence
here.
The
website has two main functions: to
archive the newsletters, and to house
the Advanced Materials Knowledge Base, a
directory and searchable index of
scientific, corporate and professional
expertise in the Richmond region.

Advanced
Materials Directory
Greater
Richmond Catalyst has compiled a
directory of companies that are part of
the advanced materials and specialty
chemicals cluster.
If
you would like your business enterprise,
research institution or professional
practice to be included in the Advanced
Materials Directory,
please submit the following information
to publisher@richmond
catalyst.com:
Name of organization
Website URL
Brief description (50 to 100 words)
And, in case we need to contact you, your name, e-mail
address and phone number
